Sourced from 'Tour du Monde' by É Charton, published 1865 - in his book, having chronicled visits to all corners of the globe including Antipodes, Russia, Africa, S America et al, Charton's final 2 chapters chart, 'Un Voyage Aux Mines Du Cornouailles' in which he describes Wheal Margery & the Trelyon Consols, St Ives Consols & Carbis Bay Consols amongst others. Bottom left in image: you can see a wooden structure - this is an early mine works

Middle left in image: you can see the Pedn Olva when it was an engine house (cubed building with ship alongside below). Its staircase was incorporated in the Pednolva Hotel, which now occupies its site.

Foreground right in image: the 'end-on' row of houses, perpendicular to Porthminster beach, is Draycott Terrace before the southern half of the Terrace was added about 30 yrs later, interestingly, this end of the Terrace was designed by Silvanus Trevail! identified today by the white wrought iron balcony running its length.

Can you spot Carn Brea?!
